3 Things I Spotted This Week – #34

A gorgeous hand painted buffet, canvas laundry trucks, and a mosquito repeller… Check out this week’s fun (and eclectic) finds!

#1 – Hand Painted Buffet

Wowza! Isn’t this gorgeous?!

I was searching the internet this past week for “boho style”, and this hand painted buffet popped onto my screen. Needless to say, it definitely caught my eye!

When our boys were first born, customizing a dresser for each of them was important to me. I hand painted their dressers and covered the drawers in wild fabric prints. I had so much fun creating their dressers! When I spotted this buffet/dresser, it made me want to work on another dresser project. While I’m certainly no artist like the one that painted this gorgeous piece, it has inspired me. You can be sure I’ll be looking for a vintage cabinet at the flea markets I shop, and when I find the perfect piece, I’ll have a fun Winter project to look forward to.

Have you ever painted a piece of furniture to turn it into a work of art?

#2 – Canvas Laundry Truck

I love industrial pieces in our home, and this canvas storage truck is no exception!

We have a long counter in our main laundry room. This counter is where all the clean folded clothes are stored until each person brings their pile back to their rooms. While the piles of clothes are neat, it’s hard to keep the piles separate for each person, and the piles are not easy to carry from laundry room to bedroom. Having 5 or more of these laundry trucks sitting on the counters makes perfect sense! Each person can have their own bin. The bins look more tidy than piles of clothes, keeps the piles separated, and makes the piles easier to carry from room to room. And, they just plain look cool!

I think there are a TON of uses for these handy storage totes. How would you use them in your home?

#3 – Mosquito Repeller

Ah…. Minnesota. Land of 10,000 Lakes.
And about fifty gazillion mosquitoes!

When I spotted this mosquito repeller, I was skeptical. In all my Minnesota Summer’s I’ve never really found “the perfect” mosquito repeller. I love being able to sit outside on the patios in the evenings, and that’s typically when the mosquitoes decide to join me. I figured I would give this gadget a try. Boy! Am I ever glad I did! This thing WORKS!

I was sitting on the patio the other night watching the Perseid Meteor Shower and used this repeller for the first time. I was SO impressed!

The repeller claims to keep mosquitoes away in a 15-foot diameter dome around you. I set the repeller about 5-feet away from me, and didn’t have one mosquito on me all night! The repeller runs on butane and the unit is extremely quiet – I didn’t hear it run at all. There is also no odor or fumes – another plus. And, this repeller is DEET free.

If you like entertaining outside and don’t want to be bothered by mosquitoes, I highly recommend this little unit!

TIP: When you’re not using the repeller, I recommend you slip out the pad and place it in an airtight zip top bag. That makes the pad last longer by not drying out as much between uses.

NOTE: Since my job is an online store and mentoring ecommerce business owners, I spend a LOT of time online each day. While most of that time is spent working, I do occasionally stumble across websites, articles, and cool things that I really like. I save these things to a Pinterest board, so someday when I have some free time, I can go back to that board and enjoy the things I found. I enjoy sharing these fun finds with you, and hope you find them interesting, too!
