Every once in a while, a book comes along that nudges you outside your usual reading habits – and reminds you why that’s such a good thing. “This Book Made Me Think of You” was exactly that for me.
I’ll be honest: this isn’t typically the kind of book I gravitate toward. But something about the title and the idea behind the story caught my attention. A story centered around a year’s worth of books gifted to help someone navigate grief? That felt too meaningful – and too intriguing – to pass up. So I took a chance. And I’m so glad I did.
From the very beginning, I found myself drawn in. As someone who loves books, the idea of receiving a carefully curated collection over the course of a year felt incredibly personal and heartfelt. It’s the kind of gift that goes beyond the surface – something that says, I see you, I know you, and I want to help you heal. I could easily imagine the emotion and anticipation behind each new book, and that concept alone gave the story a powerful emotional core.
Following Tilly on her journey was such a joy. Even though the ending is somewhat predictable, it didn’t take away from the experience at all. In fact, I didn’t mind one bit. The real magic was in the journey – watching her grow, explore, and process everything through the stories she was given. I found myself imagining what it would be like to step into her shoes, to receive those books, and to experience that kind of thoughtful connection.
One of my favorite aspects of the novel was how it wove in recommendations for real books throughout the story. That was such a clever and engaging touch. It added another layer of depth and made the experience feel interactive in a way – like a quiet invitation to keep the journey going beyond the final page. I’ve already added several of those titles to my own reading list.

I originally borrowed this book from the library with Libby, but by the time I finished it, I knew it was one I wanted to keep. It felt like the kind of story worth revisiting – and more importantly, worth sharing. So I went out and bought my own copy.
This may not be my usual genre, but it completely won me over. It’s heartfelt, comforting, and quietly impactful. And if you’re hesitating because it doesn’t seem like your typical read, I’d still encourage you to give it a chance. It wasn’t mine either – and I truly loved it. Highly recommended.
