The Chair With Two Right Arms – An Awesome Score

The other day I posted an article that included The Chair. I mentioned that I would tell the story of how I got this chair – so here it is… For the love of chair (if you’re a 70s kid, you’ll get that reference – LOL).

Just so you know – the links in this post contain affiliate links. I’ll receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link. But trust me, I only recommend things I use and love. Pinky swear.

It’s been crazy hectic here at home with so many projects we’re trying to finish before the end of October (we started in May). I was in a live chat, helping a client with their ecommerce store. While I was waiting for them to reply, I headed over to Facebook Marketplace to check for any new vintage listings (multitasking is a must 🙂 ). I had been looking for a chair for our master bedroom and wanted something from the 1950s or 1960s with that classic mid century look. What can I say… it’s kind of an obsession with me. I check online auction sites and Facebook Marketplace daily to see if I can find The Chair. That day during our live chat, I spotted a chair from a local salvage shop. It was a brand new chair but it had been returned to the store as defective – it had two right arms. When I saw the chair, I knew it was the look I was after. Granted, it wasn’t vintage, but it did have the mid century look.

I have the handiest husband in the world (I mean that – he can make or fix anything). I figured he could easily make one of the right arms into a left arm and make it look like it was never the wrong arm. I quickly texted him and asked if he could fix this chair – of course he said “yes”. I literally dropped everything, ended the live chat (of course after helping my client – duh!) and grabbed my super strong son and said “Let’s go”! We jumped in the truck and headed to town. I knew the listing wouldn’t last long in this salvage store, so I wanted to make sure we got there as soon as possible. I bought the chair for… wait for it… a mere $29!!! Yes! 29 smackaroos! This chair retails for $329.99 – and I bought the two right arm version for just $29! The chair was brand-new and in perfect condition – except for it being handicapped with two right arms. I was so excited I was practically jumping up and down like a school girl when my son loaded the chair in the truck!

As soon as my husband got home, he took a look at the chair, nodded once, then brought it out to The Garage. He worked his magic within an hour and brought the chair back in – all fixed and beautiful. That baby went straight up to our master bedroom and I’ve been enjoying it ever since. I feel SO fortunate to have the handy husband I have, and I am thrilled to have bought this chair for $29.

While I realize you’re probably not going to find this chair for $29 (sorry about that), I still recommend this chair. It really is retro cool! And while I didn’t get to choose the fabric color, you can get yours in the color of your choice. Check it out!

I’m going to pour a glass of my favorite beverage and go relax with a book in my new favorite chair. Cheers!
