3 Things I Spotted This Week – #20

Since my job is an online store and mentoring ecommerce business owners, I spend a LOT of time online each day. While most of that time is spent working, I do occasionally stumble across websites, articles, and cool things that I really like. I save these things to a Pinterest board, so someday when I have some free time, I can go back to that board and enjoy the things I found.

Here are three random things (in no particular order) that I am really loving this week. Maybe you’ll find them interesting, too!

#1 – Glass Domes

I love displaying interesting curios in a cabinet my husband made for me. BUT… I don’t like dusting.

I was excited when I spotted these glass domes this week – they’re the perfect solution to displaying small items – under glass!

These mouth-blown glass domes sit on top a glass base. You just lift the top dome, insert whatever object you want to display, and set the dome back on the base. So cool!

The tall dome is about 5″ tall with a 3″ diameter, and the shorter dome is around 3″ tall with a 4″ diameter. I just ordered these, but I can already imagine some of the things I’ll display in them: a dried rose that my Mom gave me years ago; a perfectly preserved dragonfly that we found (dead) in our yard; special rocks discovered near one of our ponds – just to name a few things. I think a display of three domes together on a shelf will look great.

What would you display in these domes?

#2 – Black Dinnerware

Okay, call me late to the party. I’ve just discovered the Dollar Tree store.

Of course I’ve heard of the store before. But I really had no idea what kinds of things they offer.

We have been using the same black stoneware dinnerware set since 1986 – it was originally a service set for twelve. We are now down to three bowls, five dinner plates, and eight smaller plates. I love our black dinnerware, and have been searching and searching and searching for replacement plates and bowls to “restock” our dwindling supply. I knew I wasn’t going to find the same exact plain black set we have (and love), but I hoped I would be able to find something at least similar. I’ve looked at all the usual places you would search when buying dinnerware, but have been unable to find just a simple, plain black set. Until this week.

This week, I discovered this simple stoneware set at the most unlikely place – the Dollar Tree store online! Who would ever have thought?!?! This set is just the style I was looking for, and it’s actually a really decent quality, as well. And, the amazing thing is – each piece was just $1.00!!!

#3 – Atomic Age Plant Stand

I stumbled on this plant stand this week and was reminded how much I loved these tables when I first discovered them, shortly after I started selling vintage. It was love at first sight!

These awesome plant stands were made in Germany in the 1950s. I love the quirky look and all the colors of Formica used on the tables. I’m rearranging and updating our Music Room right now, and would love to find one of these tables for that room. What do you think of these tables?

How about you? Did you spot something online this week that you love? Share in a comment below!

  1. Love that table! It would be a great conversation piece in a game room or den. I’d like to have one myself. I don’t shop The Dollar Tree often even though there is a store nearby. It was interesting to note that they have an online store. I’m off to check it out.

  2. Thanks, Mrs. A. Just so you know, the Dollar Tree has minimums when buying online. You can have items shipped, but the shipping might be kind of high. The good news is, you can order online and then pick your order up at your local store. 🙂
