Time Passes By In The Blink of an Eye – Or 1.5 Seconds at a Time (You Need This App)

“Time flashes by in the blink of an eye.

I’m sure you’ve heard that saying.

And sometimes, it really does feel like time is passing by in the blink of an eye. Especially watching your kids grow up!

Well, now, you can rewatch time pass by – 1.5 seconds at a time!

Yes! There’s an app for that!

I recently started using an app called 1 Second Everyday.  It has been really fun to capture these moments each day, and then watch the compilation of each day in a video series.

After you download the app (see link at the bottom of this page), you will need to create an account with 1 Second Everyday – using your email address and a password.

To Use the App
  1. Using the app is easy – using your phone, take a video of something happening in your life each day. The video only needs to be 1 to 1.5 seconds long (I use the 1.5 second setting), but I recommend you create a longer video so you can clip just the part you want.
  2. Once you have the video, open the 1 Second Everyday app and your Timeline Calendar will appear.
(NOTE: If you prefer, you can open the app first, then tap on the orange Video icon to access your phone’s camera).
  3. Tap on the day you want to add your video to, and the following screen will appear
  4. Tap on the Add Snippet box, then select the video you want to use
  5. Your video will load in a screen that looks like the one below. You can use the slide bar at the bottom of the video to select the portion of the video you want to cut for your 1 second clip.  NOTE: I always tap on the + sign to make the video clip 1.5 seconds. Once you have the portion of the video you want to use, you can tap the Play icon at the bottom of the video to preview that clip. Make any adjustments as needed. When you have just the 1 second or 1.5 second clip you want to use, tap on the Cut icon in the upper right corner.
  6. After you Cut the video, the following screen appears. You can share your short looping snippet on social media or email, or you can click the X icon in the upper left corner to exit this window without sharing.
(I posted the looping GIF of this clip at the top of this article).
  7. I usually just tap the X to close the window, and that returns me to the video clip where I can add text to the video. Tap the area beneath the video clip to add text that will appear on the video. You can also tap on the Pencil icon on the left to enter a journal entry for the video clip, or tap on the emoji on the left to add an emoji sticker to your video. When you are done adding text, tap the Done link to return to your Timeline Calendar where the new video clip has been added.
  8. From your Timeline Calendar, you can tap on the Play button to watch all your clips in one mashup
  9. After you tap the Play button, you can choose what you want to do with your video mashup. I usually just leave the setting on the left to All, and then tap Continue to watch my video. You can choose a Preset date range or a Custom date range from the options on the left if you prefer.
  10. After you’ve watched your video mashup, you can tap on Save from there if you’re ready to save it. I usually just tap the < icon to go back to my Timeline Calendar so I can add more videos to the upcoming dates. Once I have a month of videos, I’ll probably save at that point.
Tips For Using the App
  • When taking a video, I highly recommend you hold your camera horizontally. The videos turn out much better with a horizontal orientation.
  • I prefer taking the videos before I access the app. This allows me to take multiple videos at a time, and then I can choose the one I want to use.
  • You can take multiple clips from the same original video. For example, if you shoot a 15 second video with your phone, you could first clip the first 1.5 seconds of the video and add that to your Timeline Calendar. Then go back to a different day on the calendar and use that same original video again, but take a 1.5 second clip from the middle or end of the video.
Get the App

This app is available for iOS and Android. It is $4.99 for the Basic version that I am using. There are paid plans available that allow you to have longer clips with more features. You can see the comparison of the different versions and their prices at 1 Second App Plans.

Don’t wait! Download it today!

(P.S. I am not affiliated in any way with this app. I just like it, so am sharing it with you!)
