DIY House Plant Party Favors

Here’s a quick and easy way to create house plant party favors for your next dinner party.

I created these plant favors for our family Thanksgiving Dinner this year. The potted plants will serve as a unique centerpiece at our dinner table, and each family member will have their own plant to decorate their space.

I also created favors for my brothers and sister-in-law even though they won’t be able to attend dinner with us this year due to the Coronavirus lock-down. Instead, we’ll be delivering the plants the day after Thanksgiving, along with care-packages of yummy left-overs – keeping a safe distance when delivering, of course. 😉

This project took me around 30-minutes to do and I love the end result. I hope you have fun making these plant favors, too!

What You Will Need:

What You Do:

  1. Paint a white-wash splash of paint on one side of the pot and saucer
Be creative! You could paint just one side of the planters, as I have done, or you could paint the entire pot. You could also paint the pot a solid color, instead of watered-down paint like I’ve done.
  2. Add potting soil to clay pot, about half full
  3. Plant succulent in potting soil, then fill in with more potting soil
  4. Tear off a piece of washi tape and write your guests name on the tape
  5. Apply washi tape name tag to clay pot, and you’re finished!

Tips:

  • Buy Succulents – I found it was less expensive to buy succulents that were already planted in a planter than to buy individual succulents. I just carefully removed each plant from the assortment planter and repotted them individually.
  • Display – Arrange your plant party favors in a serving tray and place the tray on your dinner table as a centerpiece. When your guests leave, they can each take their plant home with them. If you prefer, you could also set the plants at each place setting and use the plant as a place card.
If you give this idea a try, I’d love to hear from you and see your photos!
