[House Plant]: Frizzle Sizzle – Unique and Unusual Indoor Plants for Your Home Decor

There’s something so peaceful and relaxing about having plants inside your home. I love the look of plants tucked into the corners of a room, displayed on coffee tables and kitchen counters, and gracing bathroom vanities.

Plants help a room feel grounded.

I especially love unique plants. Plants that act as conversation starters, and not something you see everywhere you go.

I’m always on the look-out for unique plants, and with this new series on my blog, I’ll share my latest finds with you. Here’s the latest find…

Frizzle Sizzle (Albuca Spiralis)

Don’t you just love the curly cues on this plant?

This plant just makes me smile.

About the Plant

The Frizzle Sizzle is native to South Africa.

This plant has a bulb underground and sends up very fragrant yellow flowers in the Spring.

The leaves are like a succulent. They initially grow straight, but then decide to curl as it matures.

The Frizzle Sizzle likes full sun and likes to dry out between watering. You definitely need good drainage for this plant. You won’t have to worry about any pests or diseases, as it’s highly resistant to both.

You might see some of the leaves dry up and shed as the dormancy period begins, but no worries. You can trim back the brown leaves and continue to watch the plant grow. This plant is known for growing in the Winter and then going dormant after it flowers in the Spring.

I find that this plant is somewhat of a slow-grower, but I actually like that about the plant – keeps the curls more condensed. The plant grows to around 8″ if grown indoors.

Why I Love It

I really love the curls in this plant. I think it looks whimsical and fun, and love that it’s such an easy to care for plant.

It’s definitely interesting and unique, and sure to be a plant your friends will want to know more about.

Where to Buy

You can buy this plant at Logee’s for $18.95 in a 4″ pot, or on Etsy for $14.90 for a 2″ pot.
