In today’s day and age, I realize most people don’t use bank checks as often as in the past. Most people now use debit cards for their in-person purchases, as well as for paying bills online. But… there’s still a few times when you need to write out a check.
I recently realized I was out of checks and needed to order another batch. I didn’t want just any checks – I wanted something that pictured something I’m passionate about. There are a lot of check printing companies out there, but I couldn’t find any printed checks that featured houseplants. So I came up with a clever idea – I took my own photos of houseplants and turned them into custom checks!

Show Off Your Houseplants and Create Your Own Custom Checks
Now you can take your favorite houseplants with you wherever you go in the form of checks! Here’s how.
- Take one to four photos of your favorite houseplants (see tips below)
- Go to 1-Photo to upload one photo of your plants, or go to Rotating Photos to upload four different photos for your checks
You can have all your checks printed with the same image, or you can rotate between four different images. The screen will look similar to the image below.
- Choose the format and quantity of checks you want, as well as any other options, then click CONTINUE
- Upload your photo(s) by clicking the BROWSE button and make any adjustments needed

- Enter your personal information for the printed data on your checks

- When all your data has been entered, make sure to preview the checks then click the APPROVE & CONTINUE button to checkout and place your order
Additional Tips
- Take Individual Photos – If you prefer, take individual photos of your favorite plants. You can feature up to four of them in one pack of checks.
- Take Group Photos – Another idea is to take one to four photos of your plants in groups. Place your favorite plants together on a shelf, table, or windowsill for an interesting display.
- Take Macro Photos of Leaves – Some houseplants have the most interesting and unique leaves. Take a macro (close-up) photo of your favorite leaves and turn those photos into checks.
- Make Sure to Have Bright Lighting – It’s best to take photos of your plants during the day for best natural lighting. Capture sunrays filtered around your plants for more impact. Photos taken under grow lights won’t have the same depth as photos taken in natural daylight. If the weather is nice where you live, you could also move your plants outside temporarily to take photos outdoors. Be creative!
