3 Things I Spotted This Week – #12

Since my job is an online store and mentoring ecommerce business owners, I spend a LOT of time online each day. While most of that time is spent working, I do occasionally stumble across websites, articles, and cool things that I really like. I save these things to a Pinterest board, so someday when I have some free time, I can go back to that board and enjoy the things I found.

Here are three random things (in no particular order) that I am really loving this week. Maybe you’ll find them interesting, too!

#1 – Hanging Planter

What can I say? It’s Winter. And I have houseplant fever! I love that home improvement stores have houseplants all year long! And I’ve been finding some really neat and unique plants to bring home. I was trying to find a clever way to hang a bunch of plants from ceiling to floor in a way that doesn’t detract from the plants. Look what I found! I think these hanging planters are perfect! What do you think?

#2 – Bathroom Baskets Turned into Plant Holders

Okay, bare with me here and use your imagination a little bit. What do you think of this idea? Using a bathroom basket wall organizer to hold houseplants! Yes!

This system mounts to the wall with one strip rail. The baskets then hook into the rail and you have instant baskets to hold potted plants! You could make this wall idea as tall as you wanted – from ceiling to floor, or just from ceiling to countertop. Because the baskets are so narrow, this system would work really well for in between windows, or on a wall next to your front door. I have the PERFECT place for this in our house. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

#3 – Shower Caddy Turned into Kitchen Plant Holders

I admit. I didn’t spot this shower caddy this week. Rather, I spotted it several years ago and have used it in our kitchen as a plant holder ever since. Because I was including unique plant holders here this week, I had to include this one.

Several years ago I was trying to come up with a solution for a plant holder in our kitchen. We have corner windows in the kitchen that span from counter top to ceiling and I wanted something to hold plants in that corner, yet not restrict the view. My thought was a shower caddy.

It took me quite awhile to find the one I liked best – can you believe it was this simple, inexpensive caddy? It’s a brushed nickel finish, so matches everything in our kitchen perfectly. The three tiers are adjustable, so you can move the shelves to the height you need to accommodate various plants.

I have String of Pearl succulents dangling from three vintage planters on the top shelf, an awesome Jade plant in a vintage planter on the middle shelf, and Aloe and Sanseveria  – again in vintage planters – on the bottom shelf (along with a little garden gnome who peeks out from the planters).

This caddy tucks perfectly into the corner and is held in place by tension (and for extra safety, my husband screwed the top cap into the ceiling). I have the bottom shelf adjusted high enough that a plant fits beneath it directly on the counter. This caddy allows me to display my plants, while keeping all the pots off the kitchen counter. I LOVE it! Everyone who sees it asks me where I found the plant holder. They’re surprised when I tell them it’s a shower caddy. (The photo was taken a few years ago – at night – and I’ve swapped out a few of the plants now, but you get the idea).
