3 Things I Spotted This Week – #9

Since my job is an online store and mentoring ecommerce business owners, I spend a LOT of time online each day. While most of that time is spent working, I do occasionally stumble across websites, articles, and cool things that I really like. I save these things to a Pinterest board, so someday when I have some free time, I can go back to that board and enjoy the things I found.

Here are three random things (in no particular order) that I am really loving this week. Maybe you’ll find them interesting, too!

#1 – Cement Balloon Planters

Holy cats! These cement planters are amazing!!! All you need is a round balloon and Rapid Set Cement All. Blow up the balloon, mix up the cement (NOT concrete) and then use your hands to cover the balloon with the cement (leave a few small drain holes in the bottom). Allow cement to dry for a few hours, pop and remove balloon, and you have a planter. Add potting soil and your favorite succulents or small house plants. These cement spheres would also make very cool candle holders. I love making gifts for Christmas – this is going to be my project this year! Can’t wait to get started!

#2 – Butter Maker for Making Flavored Butter

My family loves homemade flavored butter – especially on fresh baked bread! When I spotted this butter maker, I knew it would be a hit in our home. All you have to do is add heavy cream in the top portion of this maker, and then your herbs or spices in the bottom portion (or leave this side empty for plain butter). Shake for a few minutes, drain off buttermilk (which can be used in recipes), rinse the butter, and serve. Yum!

#3 – Goldfish Plant

I love plants! Indoor and outdoor plants. I especially like finding unique plants that I’ve never seen before. I stumbled on the Goldfish Plant this week. I love how sturdy the leaves are and the bright orange “goldfish” really caught my eye. It’s snowing outside right now as I write this. My outdoor gardens are tucked in for the winter. Now I can focus on finding fun plants for inside the house – this is going to be one of them!

  1. I liked the ” balloon ball “, planter idea and the ” whispering partial face “.
The face reminded me of a ceramic art friend when I was in college doing body cast mold ideas for sculpture and making molds off of sculptures in cemeteries in Louisiana. Thanks for sharing. Be blessed in your work. I’m getting ready to retire for fun projects, mainly I like to paint.

    1. Thank you very much for your nice note, Mike.

Body cast molds are so cool! My kids and I made a bunch of full face sculptures of their faces with plaster and a special fabric (can’t remember the name of it now). They thought it was fun to have the plaster on their faces and the sculptures turned out so well. They are now some of my favorite keepsakes.

Some of the headstones in those old cemeteries are amazing – I can just imagine what the sculptures looked like that your friend did.

Retiring and painting sounds like it will be wonderful! I wish you a great retirement! Stop back and share some of your paintings – they would be fun to see.

Wishing you the best – JayDee
