Weird Thoughts at 4:00am and an Odd Television Show from 1976

It’s 4:00am.
I wake up, but haven’t opened my eyes yet.
I’m still thinking about the weird vision I had right before waking up.
I picture a guy I’ve seen before. An actor.
I remember his name is Martin something.
I lay in bed, mostly awake at this point, trying to remember this guys last name.
I can see his face behind my closed eyes.
His last name is just beyond reach.
I lay there for 20 minutes thinking of this guys name.
All of a sudden it hits me! It’s “Mull”.
Why on Earth am I seeing Martin Mull’s face just as I wake up??!?!?!
I think about this and then my closed-eye thoughts go to a television show our neighbor used to watch.
It’s “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman“.
Seriously. This is my 4:00am wake up call.

I don’t know what prompted me to think this, but I ended up laying in bed (still eyes shut) and thinking about this television show from 1976.

This was one of the weirdest, most off-the-wall shows I had seen when I was a teen. I can’t say that I ever really understood it (I was just a kid after all), but the neighbor lady I babysat for never missed an episode.

I spent very little time watching television as a kid or teenager (actually, I still watch very little television). Which is why I find it SO bizarre that I thought of this show this morning. Yet, somehow this goofy show has resurfaced in a dream, and I had to look for an episode to remind myself why I thought the show was so odd. I’m sharing this with you….

Oh… and about Martin Mull. Did you know his career really took off when he started with this show? Now you do!

Did YOU ever watch this show?
If so, did you like it?
