3 Things I Spotted This Week – #14

Since my job is an online store and mentoring ecommerce business owners, I spend a LOT of time online each day. While most of that time is spent working, I do occasionally stumble across websites, articles, and cool things that I really like. I save these things to a Pinterest board, so someday when I have some free time, I can go back to that board and enjoy the things I found.

Here are three random things (in no particular order) that I am really loving this week. Maybe you’ll find them interesting, too!

#1 – Wine Advent Calendar

You know how you’ll be searching the internet, land on a website filled with ads, and then one of those ads catches your eye? Well, look what caught my eye this week! 12 Days of Wine, counting down to Christmas. Now THAT’S my kind of advent calendar! This box includes 12 wines – a mix of red and white – specially curated for the holiday season. I like that the box is designed in such a way that you can’t peek to see what the next wine will be! There are also a few boxes that contain a Golden Bottle of wine. If you’re lucky enough to get that bottle, you win wine for a year! This would be a fun gift to give (and to receive). You could also make your own [HINT HINT].

#2 – Photography Gadgets

For several years now, I have been using a 360-degree photography setup for my product photography for my ThirdShiftVintage.com ecommerce store. I love that I can take photos of my products that customers can spin around to see all sides. Here’s an example – Vintage Monkey Tray (scroll to the bottom of that page and take it for a spin)!

This past week, I spotted a contest from the company that makes the 360 table I use. The winner of the contest would win their new (larger) photo enclosure along with a set of Halo light bars. I knew the light bars would be helpful, so I decided to enter the contest. You had to give your best photography tips in a comment, and then they would award one person the prize. Well guess what?! I won (click to see)! I was SO surprised and exited!!! I exchanged messages with the owners of OrangeMonkie and have to share their note with you:

Thanks again for typing out such a detailed response to our competition. We were really surprised and at first thought it was from a blog post (we even ran it through a plagiarism-checking program lol!), so we were extra impressed when we found it was original content. Great stuff, keep it up !!

That just made my day! I’m really looking forward to playing around with this set. Thank you @OrangeMonkie!

#3 – Glass Wall Planters

When we first moved to our new house, I found clear glass wall vases that look like large test tubes. I hung several in our service entry and more in one of our laundry rooms. I added polished rocks to the bottom, water, and then always have fresh cut flowers in these vases. I really love the look of them, and they get a lot of compliments. They are more of a vase than a planter, so I’ve been on the look-out for planters I could use for the walls.

I spotted this set and absolutely love the shape of them. I think they look good the way they are shown in the photo as root starters, but I know they would look interesting with potting soil, too.  I think this set would look especially nice on the walls above the kitchen counters and below the cabinets. A perfect fill-in! Would you use these as vases; with water as root starters; or with soil as planters?

How about you? Did you spot something online this week that you love? Share in a comment below!
