Something To Chat About: Seasons

I love to talk to people and get to know them better.

Of course, I much prefer visiting with people in real life. There’s nothing better than sitting next to each other, face-to-face and having a conversation.

But, with busy schedules and friends and family spread out all over the world, those real life conversations can’t always happen.

Sure, there’s social media – and that can be a fun way to stay in touch with people you don’t see on a regular basis. But not everyone is into social media.

So….

I’ve started this new weekly series here called “Something to Chat About“.

A place where I’ll ask a question and hopefully you’ll post your answer as a comment below.

Don’t be shy!
It’s just me.
And, well, anyone else who decides to read and follow my blog.

Seriously. Let’s give this a go and have a conversation among friends, family, and acquaintances. Hopefully we’ll meet some new friends along the way.

The question this week is…

*What is your favorite season, and why?

This is such an easy question for me. While I love something about all four of our seasons, I have to say that my most favorite season is Spring.

After long Winters here in Minnesota, Spring is literally like a breath of fresh air.

I love watching all the seasonal creatures return to our property: Sandhill Cranes (or Pterodactyls – as we like to call them); Great Blue Herons; Egrets; Swans; Canada Geese and Snow Geese;  Mergansers, Mallards, and Wood Ducks; all the song birds – especially the Robins, Bluebirds, Indigo Buntings, Redstarts, Orioles, and Humming Birds; Otters, Possums, Raccoons and Skunks; Frogs, Snakes, and Turtles; Butterflies and Moths of all kinds; Honey Bees and Bumblebees; the list goes on and on.

Watching the trees begin to bud and then seem to turn green overnight is like watching magic happen. Oh, and that soft green grass under bare feet – nothing feels quite as good as that!

I love the smell of dirt and mud in the Spring. And yes, even the smell of Earthworms when they start coming out of the ground. The smell of the ground makes you feel so connected to Earth.

And did I mention OPEN water?! Open, running, wavy water?

I love taking patio furniture out of storage and turning the patios into comfortable, relaxing outdoor oasis’. Then at night, sitting on the patio to the sound of millions of frogs just emerging from the lakes, ponds, and streams while sipping a cold glass of wine and watching the night sky. Usually in the Spring there are little to no mosquitoes, so sitting on the patios in the evenings is definitely the place to be.

With all the animals and Spring growth returning, and the warmth of the Spring sun, it makes every day seem like a new beginning to me.

I enjoy prepping my flower gardens in anticipation of hundreds and hundreds of annuals that I plant each year – each year, something a little different than the last.

Spring weather allows for warm days and coolish nights, with no humidity – ah…. perfect weather!

I love the thunderstorms of Spring – the first rain, watching the lightning streak across the sky and the loud booms of thunder overhead, followed by a brilliant rainbow in the sky.

So… tell me about you. Post your answer as a comment below and let’s chat!
